The WatershedThought I knew my mind like the back of my hand... June 06 sugar pie honey bunchJune 03 creative projectI love the life in motion photography blog. Lyndsay is always sharing cool ideas like this wordle template., which I'm going to figure out how to do. I love words and I really love fonts, so it's a dream project.
Anyway, I figured I'd pick something in my house that people always ask me about and share it with my internet peeps.
When I was decorating our kitchen a few years ago, I saw something at hallmark about familes that inspired me to create this:
I bought a huge, blank canvas and some paints from the craft store. We brainstormed as a family what to say on our list and I spent a night painting the finished piece.
It's not perfect. My attempt at painting words was pitiful (next time I'll use a paint pen to write them). But it's us. It represents our life and I love it. And I'm not lying when I say I point to #5 like a school teacher when the boys are fighting over a toy. i heart faces - week 21 (pets) April 28 new trickApril 22 bulldogs are good for the soulWith each baby there are one (or two) pictures taken with our wonderful bulldog, Belle, that really stand out in my mind.
Case in point...
A very young Belle and Owen falling in love with each other.
Owen and Belle having some fun.
RC interrupting Belle's nap
And now these sweet images will be tatooed on my heart...
Lucy falling in love with Belle.
April 19 crayons versus markersOn days that I have to sing at church my mom picks up RC after the first service for some fun at Grandma's. Little did he know that his cousin Cody was going to be there having fun, too. When he saw the boys coloring with markers he got so excited and wanted to join in on the fun. When my mom offered him the less messy alternative of crayons instead, this was the result...
Do you think for one second that a Grandma wouldn't give into that face????
Thanks, Dad, for sharing those pictures with me! bostonMy dear friend, Ollie, is running the Boston marathon tomorrow. She qualified for it at the Chicago 2007 race in record breaking heat. People were dropping like flies and officials eventually shut it down. What did Ollie do? She posted her fastest marathon time ever and qualified for the big one in Boston. After knee problems and a trip to Africa delayed her in '08, she was determined to make it happen for 2009. I wish her the best run of her life tomorrow. And since I couldn't make the trip to Beantown I put together this tribute/inspiration video for her. Race your heart, Ollie. Set your shorts on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I uploaded it to you tube:
April 17 GulfportMarch 18 he still loves to cuddleFebruary 07 brotherly loveSo lately Ryan has been contributing to Lucy's playtime. Today he thought she needed a baseball, drill, giraffe, and a catapillar(on her shoulder). I never know what I'm going to find in her lap. The good thing is that he is so loving and gentle to her. She gets lots of slobbering kisses on her head everyday. He calls her her "C"...as in lu-CEE.
The other love in Ryan's life is his big brother. This photo may not be great, but seeing Ryan solicit hugs from his big is too sweet not to share. January 17 handing over the camera...Karen, my best, came over today with her oldest daughter, Sarah. And while I'm usually the one clicking away, the tables were turned and she captured me having fun with the kids...well, mostly RC. Owen was too busy building a fort with Sarah. I need to encourage Chris to pick up the camera more and myself not to care what I look like.
Here comes the dinosaur.
"dina"!

caught in mama's tickle machine!
stealing a kiss!
sidetracked by Belledog. I love his puppy panting.
January 13 Idol is backSeason 8 is here. I sort of like the audition round. It's hard to watch the clueless, but it's sooo fun to watch undiscovered talent make it to Hollywood. To celebrate, we did a little rockin' out ourselves today!
RC thinks this get-up will impress the judges.
If O makes it through, he plans to incorporate his mad kazoo skills.
Even Belledog decided to try out.
Okay, so on to the show. I'm only going to be able to blog if my newborn lets me. She's kind of rules my world these days.
So a few quick one liners about tonight:
Emily "ear lobes" Hughes - Her rock band must do a lot of Heart covers. She's good, but she'll get cut.
The "Bulgarian" guy was just weird. I had to turn my head and scrunch my nose while listening to him form sounds that may or may not have been singing.
Ariana "Grandfriends" - she's the Diana degarmo of this season
Stevie Wright- Right.
Sweet Roughneck- what up, Jasper, TX? I feel like Hollywood might be tough for him.
Bikini girl- next.
Deanna Blue eyes Bartender - different good, but I'm not sure if she's top 12 good.
Nighty Night.
December 24 Merry Christmas ya'llGet on over to Big Mama's blog for a wonderful Christmas eve post today.
My prayer is for everyone to find what's missing.
December 20 pictures I had this great blog post written and just lost it all. AGH!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are some pictures from this week instead.
The face of Ryan anytime I'm nursing Lucy. He's either saying UP, MORE, PLEASE, or ELMO here.
Hi world!
I could stare at her all day.
Color or black & white?
Front and center...our superstar!
December 11 "hiii bay-bee" times 100Despite the day-night reversal (which from my perspective is not a big deal considering my baby is healthy and home in my arms). Anyway, despite that, I still think Lucy's arrival has been most difficult on Ryan. He doesn't like the attention being taken away from Planet RC. So he had a little chat with "hi bay-bee".
December 09 night and dayDecember 06 settling in...December 04 the girlShhhhhh....there's a new baby in our family... and she's super cute.... I think she loves us.... ...and I think we'll keep her. Lucy Etta took her sweet time getting here, but she was worth the wait! Just look at that face. That is some serious beauty sleep concentration.
We have only been home a few hours and our hearts are overwhelmed with the emails of love and congratulations. We look forward to everyone meeting our baby girl. November 29 Out with the blue, in with the pinkToday is Tiny's due date, but she's decided to be fashionably late. For those looking for the sleepy face of a newborn on my blog, maybe you'll enjoy these nursery pictures. Owen is on a playdateright now, but I hope to get my picture in front of the crib with the boys tomorrow.
Also, I haven't said it on the blog, but if you're observant enough, you can figure out Tiny's first name.
November 23 Less than a week!
I have one more week to enjoy being pregnant. Just a few of the things I will miss… The expression on husband's face when he sees the pink line on the pregnancy test. I'll never forget what those hugs felt like.
Looking forward to months of planning and dreaming about your baby.
Discovering that you can love someone even when they're the size of a grain of rice!
Choosing maternity clothes — cute tops and comfy pants! Elastic is your new best friend.
Giving in to those cravings!
Pregnancy is the perfect excuse to pamper yourself — make time for long, scented baths, relaxing massages, and soothing lotions.
Being newly pregnant and feeling like you have a "secret" from the world.
The first time you get to hear your baby’s heartbeat, and realize that there really is a baby growing in there.
Telling your nearest and dearest friends and family the good news and hearing their congratulations.
After all these years, you suddenly understand your parents far better than you ever did before.
Feeling those first fluttering movements and wondering if it really was...
Watching a grainy picture of your baby wriggling around on the ultrasound monitor, and treasuring the pictures you take home.
The glow you feel when husband rubs your belly or talks to the baby. Three souls sharing a moment, connecting.
The amazement you feel when you look at your belly, with your baby growing inside you.
Feeling the baby move, when no one else can feel it – guaranteed to raise a smile on the toughest of days.
Thoughts of baby’s first Christmas, first Easter, first birthday party, first airplane ride.
Feeling a pair of tiny heels in your ribcage might not be very comfortable, but you can forgive it – because soon you’ll be meeting the owner of those heels.
Having an excuse for feeling weepy – you can blame your pregnancy hormones for so much!
Knowing that soon you'll have a little one to cuddle and nurse.
Knowing that someday, someone will say "He wants his mommy". And for the first time, it's you that they mean.
Great hair, skin, and nails.
The amazement of creation; growing a whole new person from two tiny cells.
Comfort and peace trusting that God's plans for this baby are greater than anything we could imagine.
November 19 I wonder what husband prefers?"Yardwork" in Minnesota in November Yardwork in November in Texas... The boys love being outside. And they REALLY LOVE being outside doing "work" with dad. I love seeing them help out. And yesterday's crowning achievement was when Owen caught a teeny tiny lizard. I was at a meeting at church when it happened, so I came home to this recap... "Mama, I caught a lizard. Can you believe it? His name his Henry. Dad helped me build this little home in a jar for him. Isn't this the greatest? I'm taking him to school tomorrow for show and tell. Can he sleep in my room tonight?" It was JOY from the inside out! My first born was beaming. And when he is filled with such happiness I can't help but get emotional. When I picked him up from school today he was surrounded by kids all getting one last peek at Henry. Owen bawked at first about letting him go tonight, but understood that Henry's family probably missed him. November 14 has it been a year?Last year at this time I snapped some of my favorite pictures of the boys...
It's hard to believe how much has changed since then. Anyday now we will be completing our family with the arrival of our daughter. As we wait for her, I look forward to the last few weeks in a house of boys. I love being a mom to these two. Everyday they challenge me to be a better person. And I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful husband. |
